TNC27 will take place in Liège, from 7–11 June 2027 and will be hosted by Belnet, the Belgian NREN, and Restena, Luxembourg’s NREN.
The largest and most prestigious research and education networking conference, TNC attracts a truly diverse audience of over 900 participants from more than 70 countries, representing national and regional research and education networks, schools and universities, technology providers, and many of the world’s most exciting scientific projects. The Finnish word sisu is untranslatable, but overall it can be explained as a concept encompassing inner strength, tenacity, determination, and courage, particularly in the face of adversity.
In a changing world, the TNC26 theme seems very fitting: our community needs to embrace the idea of sisu to ensure our future as a community. With this action-orientated mindset, we need the courage to make difficult decisions about our response to world events, to ensure a sustainable future for our activities and to maintain the strong ecosystem we have built.
Sisu is an all-purpose philosophy of life and as such it underpins all aspects of the NREN community.
Belnet has been providing high-quality, innovative network infrastructures and related services to Belgian universities, colleges, research centres, and public services since 1993, contributing to the development of the knowledge and information society. The ultra-high performance of the Belnet network transports huge data flows and stimulates (inter)national cooperation in the field of research and education. In addition, Belnet offers innovative services in the areas of connectivity, security, cloud, and mobility. Thanks to its expertise, unique market position, and economies of scale, Belnet is able to meet the specific needs of the over 250 member organisations that together represent 833,000 end users.
The Restena Foundation is the NREN for Luxembourg and provides network infrastructure and related services for organisations active in research, education, culture, health, or public administration in Luxembourg. Restena designs and operates a high-speed communications network interconnected with European and worldwide research networks, according to the needs of Luxembourg’s research and education community. Its services cover a wide range of areas including web hosting, network support, email, identity and computer security. The Restena Foundation is also managing the national top-level domain .lu and is heavily involved in the operation of the internet exchange and other essential infrastructures.
Located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, Helsinki is a charming seaside city with a unique twist – a place where urban culture meets coastal nature. The easy-going Nordic lifestyle and friendly locals make it easy to fall in love with this northern city – the capital of the happiest country in the world!
TNC26 will be hosted at the Helsinki Music Hall (Helsingin Musiikkitalo in Finnish), a concert hall and a music center. The building is home to Sibelius Music Academy and two symphony orchestras, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra.
TNC26 Side Meetings will instead take place at the Finland Hall, which is next door to the Helsinki Music Hall.
